About Tarot Meaning Match

Meaning Match is a quick tarot quiz that checks whether you can connect each card to its core meaning. You are shown a card (or a meaning) and pick the right answer from four options — a fast way to turn passive flashcard study into active recall, which is what actually makes the meanings stick.

Play in either direction: see the card and choose its meaning, or read a meaning and choose the card. Narrow the deck to the 22 Major Arcana while you are starting out, or take on all 78 cards once you are confident. Each round is ten questions and your best score is saved.

How to play

  1. Pick a deck — Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, or the full deck.
  2. Choose a direction: match cards to meanings, or meanings to cards.
  3. Read the prompt and select the correct answer from the four options.
  4. Get instant feedback on each answer and a score out of ten at the end.
  5. Replay to beat your saved high score and close the gaps.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Meaning Match quiz test?

It tests whether you can match a tarot card to its keywords and meaning (and vice versa). It is designed for active recall — the most effective way to lock in what you have studied with flashcards.

Is the tarot quiz free?

Yes, it is free and needs no account. Your high scores are saved in your browser on this device.

Should I learn the cards before playing?

You can play straight away, but you will score higher after studying with the flashcards first. Many people alternate: study a deck, then quiz it with Meaning Match.

Can I focus on just the Major Arcana?

Yes. Choose the Major Arcana mode to drill the 22 trumps on their own, or switch to the Minor Arcana or the full 78-card deck when you are ready.
