Spend time in nature connecting with animal energy. Journal about where you need to show more strength.
Origins & Folklore
The Buck Moon is named for the time when male deer grow their new antlers, covered in velvety fur as they develop. Native Americans also called it the Thunder Moon for July's frequent storms, or the Hay Moon for the haymaking season. In Celtic tradition, this period honors Cernunnos, the horned god of wild animals and forests. Ancient Greeks associated July's full moon with Zeus, king of gods, whose thunderbolts matched the month's storms. The antler itself is a symbol of regeneration—deer shed and regrow antlers annually, teaching us that true strength includes the ability to release and renew.
Journaling Prompts
Where in your life do you need to stand more firmly in your power?
What are you willing to fight for or protect?
How can you embrace both strength and gentleness?
What aspect of yourself is ready to grow or regenerate?
Where have you been giving away your power, and how can you reclaim it?
Guided Meditation
Visualize yourself in a sunlit forest clearing. A magnificent stag approaches, its antlers reaching toward the sky like branches. Feel the strength and nobility it radiates. Now imagine antlers of light growing from your own head—not aggression, but crowned wisdom and natural authority. Stand tall, rooted in the earth, reaching toward the sky. This is your sovereign power.
“I stand strong in my power and truth.”
