๐ฏ๏ธSturgeon Moon Ritual
Take inventory of your resources - physical, emotional, spiritual. Create a gratitude list for all you've gathered.
Origins & Folklore
The Sturgeon Moon is named for the giant sturgeon fish that were most readily caught in the Great Lakes during August. Some tribes called it the Green Corn Moon for the ripening maize, or the Grain Moon for the wheat harvest. In Celtic tradition, August 1st marks Lughnasadh, honoring Lugh, god of skill and craft, through the first harvest festival. Ancient Romans celebrated the Nemoralia, a festival of torches honoring Diana at her sacred lake. The sturgeon itself can live over 100 years and grow to enormous size, symbolizing patience, longevity, and the rewards of allowing things to mature fully.
Journaling Prompts
What resources have you gathered this yearโmaterial, emotional, or spiritual?
How can you share your abundance while maintaining enough for yourself?
What still needs to mature before it's ready for harvest?
Where do you need to practice more patience with your growth?
What are you most grateful for as summer winds down?
Guided Meditation
Imagine yourself on the shore of a vast, calm lake at sunset. The water glitters like gold coins. Beneath the surface, you sense the abundance of lifeโfish, plants, and ancient sturgeon gliding in the depths. Let this image of hidden wealth fill you with security. Know that abundance surrounds you, even when you cannot see it all. What blessings are swimming beneath your conscious awareness?
โI gather abundance and share it generously.โ
